We would like this webApp<\/em> to become an effective instrument for travel agencies, the sector of accomodation, transport as well as the service providers. A “web app” is a website adapted to mobile devices. You will be prompted to display a direct connection pictogram on your phone or tablet. On the other hand, do not look for Handy.Brussels in your ‘store’ for mobile applications because it’s not one of them. Handy.Brussels is a website that works as well on the big screen of your PC as on your mobile device, Android, Mac, or other.<\/p>\n

The webiste consists mainly of information files about accomodation, restaurants, museums, shopping- and leisure centers,… Every file provides practical and detailled information such as a description, address, telephone number, map, pictures….as well as specific information and observations gathered by the team of ‘ AMT Concept’ during their visit.<\/p>\n

“Tourism for all”, implies mentionning architectural and behavioural barriers. We will introduce some leads to reduce behavioural barriers as well as architectural ones of inhibiting disabled tourists to travel in full safety. Today, the lack of information, adapted equipment and understanding from the tourism industry, obstruct to the development of a discrimination-free tourism.<\/p>\n

For any kind of travel, people need exhaustive information on the state of the infrastructure. One step, a wrongly calculated door width, a poorly placed flowerpot can be sources of dependence and weariness for disabled travellers or their travelling assistants.<\/p>\n

Significant improvements have been carried out the last few years in Brussels.
\nAccessibility in touristical places is far from established, especially in public transportation, public buildings, stores, restaurants, leisure spaces, … We noticed during our latest visits that some hotels and restaurants carried out transformations in order to host disabled tourists. Several new hotels offer an optimal accessibility for travellers with reduced mobility. The various Communes in Brussels as well as the Region, also launched projects (streets and transportation) to remedy the present situation. Let’s not forget all the projects of the Brussels region to couneract the actual situation.<\/p>\n

Finally, this guide does not pretend to be self-sufficient, it only represents a complement to other traditional tourist guide books that remain indispensable to appreciate the abundance of cultural and leisure activities in Brussels.<\/p>\n
